Sweet door, though.

That door has two pull handles. Does it swing in both directions?

Don’t forget to squeegee
the glass when done showering, that will take longer than the shower.

Yes, it swings in and out. It’s a back-to-back handle

This was 86 square feet of glass. But given the price point of the home, “The Help” will be tending to the squeegee-ness.

I’ve grown to hate glass, especially these weird fishbowl/exhibitionist showers. I like a cozier shower, and preferably a curtain liner than can be taken down and laundered at least once a month.
The funk we’ve found in the nooks, crannies and seals of our glass shower will make your stomach turn.
Bleach it from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure.
Yes, I love good design, but in my dwelling most of my preferences are functional and hygienic.

You beat me to it, but I am going to say it anyway: That is a shower for someone who doesn’t clean their own bathroom.
![]() 08/17/2018 at 16:17 |

My solutions for that are as follows:
1. Don’t design a 7-sided shower
2. After you ignore 1, have a door designed that has minimal channel, track, etc., where everything gets trapped and nasty. Use brackets and glaze in lieu of channels.
3. After you see how expensive 2 is, please refer to 1.

I like how the sink/vanity is actually flush with the floor as it should be, and not on short legs or trying to mimic a piece of furniture (with an impossible to clean area underneath). That fad can’t pass soon enough.
![]() 08/17/2018 at 16:20 |

That ceiling head should be a rain fall shower head. At least 2 square feet.

Thats what the help is for. Why debase yourself when you can pay someone else to do it for you?
![]() 08/17/2018 at 16:21 |

Yes, I much prefer proper cabinets with a toe kick. However, those ones with the heavy-duty
hang rail and suspended 16"
above the floor are the bee’s knees. If they’re designed and installed correctly.

I remodeled my master bath this year, it was originally a smallish shower stall with a dividing wall/ tub beside it. It’s now 9' long by 3' wide shower.
I did this 100% myself, it took a long time

spent all their money on fa ncy glass and tile , couldn’ t afford a full 30" door
![]() 08/17/2018 at 16:27 |

If memory serves, that was a 28"door with a 96" header.

That sounds awful. Did you do glass for the shower surround?

Is there a second vanity or are they dealing with the horror that living with one bathroom sink seems to be to every person on House Hunters.

looking at the tiles it looked to be about in the middle of the 2 rows making it 24" but it looks like it could be a bit wider than that. also 96??? damn

There’s two 5' vanities straddling that free-standing tub you see in photo 1.

I’m looking at $1500 installed for a 2 panel door...

But curtains might... touch you and no. Just no. I have glass shower doors but they’re the frosted ones that don’t look too bad when covered with 5 years of soap scum and hard water.
![]() 08/17/2018 at 16:32 |

Such opulence.
I can’t even keep my much smaller shower’s windows clean. They’re clean for like a handful of days after the housekeeper comes, then back to a heavy film of soap scum. It rubs off because she puts something on them, but that’s more work than we put in on it.
![]() 08/17/2018 at 16:32 |

Look closer. Only 1/3 of the field tiles intercepted by the casing is covered. 3/4 of 12 is 8. 12+8+8 = 28.
08/17/2018 at 16:33 |

Honestly, that’s more my problem than anything else: you’ve got this massive space, and you install a shitty little shower head.
![]() 08/17/2018 at 16:33 |

16" sounds doable. Unlike the early-oughts era Home Depot vanity at my mom’s place, which is on legs a couple inches off the ground, and impossible to properly clean underneath. I shudder to think what lurks beneath.
![]() 08/17/2018 at 16:34 |

I sort of thought that would be the case in a bathroom of that size and expense. If you’re going to have two sinks that’s the way to do it. Our new place has two sinks but I think we’ve used them simultaneously exactly once. For that convenience we have to give up a whole set of drawers. I’d rather just have one sink.

That shower is custom made for camm ing, because there is no other situation where a person wants to be in a fishbowl while naked and scrubbing their bits.
![]() 08/17/2018 at 16:35 |

It is “heavy”/ 3/8" thick glass?
![]() 08/17/2018 at 16:35 |

But it’s still free-standing, meaning that area behind the tub will always be filthy, but at least it could be cleaned.
![]() 08/17/2018 at 16:37 |

Nobody buys frosted glass anymore here because they want to show off how expensive their tile is. Why would I want people to have a panoramic view of me
scrubbing my pasty torso?!?

I’ve left to much knuckle skin on 28" doors over my lifetime. Fuck bathroom doors. Every single door in my house is 36", and everything still looks fine, thank you very much.

Exactly. You have the one ‘all business’ head on the wall. Then that thing from the ceiling for weekends and company.....

I yearn for my own vanity. We have a 52" wide one at our old house. No matter how many times I remind her, or how clean I kept on my side, she would completely conquer ever glimpse of open surface. I had NOTHINGGG

Doors on showers are for the peasant class. A proper bathroom had a shower big enough that there's no concern for water splashing out of it. Pfffft.

There are glass walls on either side, both 34" wide by 72" high. The middle of it has no wall/door

My parent’s just installed one of these walk-in showers with several square feet of plain glass in the bathroom I use when I visit. There’s a squee
gee and a microfibre towel p
la
ced very prominently, as in they are passive aggressively telling you to squeegee and then wipe down the whole glass section which shows every single water spot if
It got to a point where you actually ponder if the refreshment and feeling clean/being presentable is actually worth the hassle. The last heatwave didn’t help at all, so being the nice son I am, I wiped that thing dry
several times a day.
Looks cool, not worth it.
That rain
shower head needs to be like three times bigger.
That’s a good design. And rather economical compared to the one I posted.
I spent plenty.. the glass walls weren’t too bad $500 for both of them (3/8" clear safety glass, frameless). Originally I bought two
shower head combo things
with arcing head, body jets, and wand. I decided I also needed 12" by 12" rainshower heads too. Three way valves cost a fortune. The shower pan is so big you can’t use an off the shelf, I built it
with 40ml PVC
panliner and 900lbs of cement.
10 shower heads all told, need more hot water! 11gpm tankless water heater with recirculator. Huh, needs more gas, had the gas meter upgraded from 250g/m to 450 g/m.
The idea of having t
wo sinks in the same bathroom
make
me think about this:
Reminds me of the Love Toilet commercial on SNL. It starts with the little bottles of stuff and then before you know it the various curling irons have completely taken over!
I am pretty sure
the sink/vanity is flush with the wall, too, as it should be.
For the tub which indeed appears to have an awkward narrow gap
, that’s for the tub and hired help to worry about.
In general I like it. Things that bug me: That weird window/mirror combo. The window should be the same width as the mirror, or at least have some additional mirrors or something flanking the window so the frame is the same width as the lower section. If they are going to be different, you need separate frames with a gap between them. That one head seems pretty inadequate for a shower of that size? Fake marble floors, especially when the installer was too lazy to not put identical tiles right next to one another. Inadequate lighting. Maybe there’s something going in where those plates are on the ceiling. Ceiling looks uneven. Is this new construction? So actually, upon reviewing it, I guess I don’t actually like it. I was going to say I liked the shower enclosure, but honestly it would look a lot better with frameless glass as well. Yes with special anti water treatment NP Ceiling is not uneven, my S7 had this annoying distortion problem when I photograph interior. Notice the incredibly warped looking closet door casing. I did get the two confused. They make sinks with gaps under them? Horror. The weird sinks I have seen that have acute angles over underlying counter are pretty disturbing on their own. This is why you build a little wall between sinks put the whole family in there and hose them down all at once... Yep. My mom has something like this: The underneath area seems like it would be a magnet for grime, and in her small 1920s bathroom, it is very difficult to get under there - especially as she isn’t as limber as she used to be. Dumb design. I like having it all the way to the ground, with lots of storage, as I have lots of stuff to store (my household and car cleaning supplies live there).
